As a part of my job I receive requests from non profit organizations looking for donations and sponsorships. Recently I was contacted by Joe at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls in Chicago for a donation. I'll admit, until receiving his request I had not heard of this organization. After a little online research I found Mercy Home is a place of refuge for children who suffer abuse, neglect and other crisis in their young lives. Mercy Home is a round the clock facility with tutors, counselors and mentors all helping these kids grow up to reach their full potential. Immediately heart warmed I contacted Joe and decided we should get involved.
Joe and I had a quick conversation about his needs. Joe and adult volunteers will be taking 12 teens from the Chicago Mercy Home to Ireland for 9 days. This trip will focus on outdoor activities such as hiking, sea kayaking and fishing. The young adults and leaders were in need of zip off or convertible pants. I'm very happy to say 12 pair of Royal Robbins Zip N' Go Pants are on the way to this group.
As a company we think it's very important to support organizations like this one who encourage and enable kids to get outdoors. Mercy Home is not only making these children's lives exciting with a once in a lifetime trip to Ireland, they're working and caring for these kids every day to insure they have all the same advantages in life that other kids do. In today's world it is inspiring to hear of an organization like this.
Please visit www.mercyhome.org and check out all the good work they're doing. I wish these kids and counselors a great trip to Ireland! Can't wait to see the pictures when they return.
